The organizations and proponents in the field of cryptocurrencies have shifted focus from just spreading the word about digital assets to making an ecosystem integrated with solutions and other applications. A key area of interest has been that of Decentralized Applications [DApps] and one of the organizations that have been a key proponent with regard to the Dapp environment has been the Justin Sun-led Tron Foundation.

In the latest DApp weekly report released by the Foundation, it was mentioned that:

“The number of #DApps on #TRON continued to grow this week. 55 new DApps were added with a growth rate of 14%. The total number of DApps on TRON is 447.”

Among all the DApps, gambling applications were the main contributors and was up by 44 from the previous week, followed by utility DApps which were up by 9. The report added,

“Up to 1000 smart contracts have been deployed on Tron and TRX has made it back to top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap. Let’s look forward to a decentralized network that is more open and reliable.”

Tron had risen to the number 10 position on the charts mid-week but then fell out of it as the prices dropped. Currently, Tron is holding the 12th position on the charts, trading for $0.031 with a total market cap of $2.1 billion. According to Tron, Coinstats, a popular data website, included trading pair statistics for the TRXMarket with an aim to assess Tron’s blockchain performance as well as its utility.

Tron was also in the media spotlight recently when the company acquisition, BitTorrent, announced the launch of the BitTorrent File System [BTFS]. Sun claimed that BTFS stuck to the core fundamentals of creating a decentralized internet or Web 4.0 so that people all over the world could indulge in the treasure trove of web commerce. His announcement tweet read:

“We’re creating a platform with BTFS, BitTorrent Speed blockchain integration and the BTT utility token to let users quickly and privately interact with each other around the world without a middleman or government intervention.”
