Ledger Expands Cardano Support: Manage 100 Native Tokens with Ledger Live

Things to know:

– You can now manage 100 native Cardano native tokens with your Ledger Live* app and Ledger Nano’s world-class security.

– The support for additional Cardano native tokens will provide you with a secure and seamless access to the wider Cardano ecosystem. 

– These tokens, called “native tokens,” can be handled in the same way as Cardano’s currency, ADA, and enjoy all the benefits of its speed, security, and low transaction costs. 

Back in June 2022, we announced that you could now buy, send and receive ADA coins directly with your Ledger Live app, simply by creating an ADA account. 

And we’re now reaching a new milestone. 

100 native Cardano tokens just made their way to your Ledger Live app. Starting today, you can seamlessly explore the Cardano ecosystem by managing World Mobile Token, DANA, and ADAX, to name a few, while leveraging the security of your Ledger Nano. 

You can find the list of newly supported Cardano tokens on Ledger Live at the end of this article.

There are many more Cardano tokens, but for now, we decided to support these 100 tokens first. Our selection has not been based on market cap, but on the number of blockchain transactions during a given period. The selection was made without any bias, based and on-chain data.

What are Cardano Tokens?

Contrary to some other networks where user-defined tokens are non-native and the underlying ledger doesn’t directly support them, Cardano allows token creation and distribution without the need for custom code or costly smart contracts.

These tokens, called “native tokens,” can be handled in the same way as Cardano’s currency, ADA, and enjoy all the benefits of its speed, security, and low transaction costs. In addition to removing a layer of complexity, this approach reduces manual errors and transaction fees.
