BAT Receives Support From New HTC Phone Making Brave Blockchain Browser As Default Option

Basic Attention Token and Brave browser continue to expand in the crypto world. This time, the company announced that it will be the default browser for HTC’s Exodus smartphone. This means that users will have easier access to the Basic Attention Token (BAT).

BAT has been created as a virtual currency that pays users for their attention. Individuals receive compensation for sharing their data and attention with advertisers. At the moment, the only browser that uses this virtual currency is the Brave browser.

The information was released by Brendan Eich, the CEO of BAT and Brave on Twitter. He wrote that Brave will be the main and default browser of the HTC Exodus phone.

The HTC Exodus 1 is one of the latest smartphones to be released to the market. Although it looks like an ordinary phone, this device is different because it has different blockchain and cryptocurrency features built into the phone. It has a 6-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and it runs Android 8.1.

At the same time, each Exodus 1 is a node on the HTC’s own blockchain network. It also allows users to store and trade virtual currencies. It also offers support for Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH), among other ERC-721 collectibles using the Zion wallet.

Phil Chen, the chief decentralization officer at HTC and the designer of the phone, said in YouTube that the device is a high-end version that aims at testing the concept. In the future, a new low-end version could be available to the general public.

Another of the goals of this phone and this project is to to offer services to those that are unbanked. According to Chen, even the United Nations is interested in it.

It is important to mark that the phone might have a less-than-ideal user experience since it is just a beta product. It is possible to purchase the phone with virtual currencies at a price close to $1000.

The Brave browser can also increase the number of users in the platform. As of July 2018, Brave had around $3.1 million active users and the number continues to grow. According to the number of devices sold, users in the platform can increase and help Brave and BAT reach new clients as well.

Furthermore, it is very important for the company to have a good product that would allow the firm to increase its sales since it has lost an important market during the last years. There were several new Chinese brands launched to the market that are good competitors and took part of the market share.

BAT is the 30th largest virtual currency with a market capitalization of $167 million. Each BAT token can be bought for $0.141571.
