Brave Browser News – After Reaching 10 Million Downloads, Brave Secures New Partner and Introduces Trial Ad Program

The privacy focused web browser, Brave, which is dedicated to keeping user information and data private and secure. As an alternative to the more well-known browsers, Brave provides a series of built-in privacy support features which allow for advertisement blocking, script disabling, and cookie / tracker blocking.

Along with this, Brave aims . to re-evaluate the way in which it conducts online advertising and delivers advertisements, all by creating an advertising platform based on users attention.

A Remarkable Landmark – Over 10 Million Downloads in Google Play Store

The development team behind the Brave browser continues to achieve and add to its line of commendable milestones,  as they previously obtained and overshot 10 million downloads in the Google Play Store, and reached over 4 million active users. Being around for a relatively short period of time compared to its contemporary browsers, this is a very impressive achievement, as increasing the scope of users allows the Brave team to have an increased ability to on-board new advertisers within their platform.

There are a number of achievements that continued to add themselves to Brave's list,  especially after the announcement of Brave receiving approval from Apple to use BAT in iOS Apps with, along with the recent announcement regarding the ability to tip users on Reddit and Twitter through the Brave Browser.

The rapidly expanding web browser has now announced an official advertising trial program to gather more data for research and development.

Brave Introduces Public Advertising Program Trial

Brave has recently announced that it will be beginning a public advertising program trial which will connect user's data on browsing activity. The advertising trial itself is directed specifically for Mac users who download a special ‘test' build of the brave browser from their announcement page.

The 28-Day Experiment

This advertising trial is designed so that the advertising system built by Brave will undergo testing with some real-world browsing behavior. And this program will run for 28 days.

Currently, the Brave team has been explicit in saying that the regular browser does not and will not collect any user information or data. This trial is specifically for this individual build which will be downloaded by testers.

This build of the Brave browser for the advertising trial will monitor user activity and information including URLs visited, when the Brave browser was used, wi-fi information, user IP addresses, including information on advertisements shown, clicked and dismissed.

The information and data collected from the trial will be deleted after 1 year, and will only be handled by researchers assigned to use the data.

The Advertisement Trial is an Important Test for the Platform

This advertising trial represents a crucial step in bringing the real advertising program live. This advertising program is dedicated and created in order to reward users that choose to view these adverts. Users that decide to opt-in in order to view advertisements can receive up to a 70% share of the advertising revenues from the advertisements.

Putting forward such a broad spanning vision, their trial represents a revamp of what we know about the advertising industry, and while it's a remarkable and mutually beneficial vision, it's one that requires a great deal of testing. And with public advertising underway, it can only be assumed that the Brave team is poised to bring this revolutionary new perspective to fruition.

For those that are interested in the trial and would like to help by taking part in the advertising trial by downloading their test build. These advertising trials started on September 13th this year, so there is still plenty of time for new testers to join in.

Partnership With Qwant

To add further to the Brave headlines, the team has recently announced an important partnership with a privacy-focused search engine known as Qwant.

Brave Ditches Google, Gets With Qwant

The topic of privacy and data security are deeply hot-button, and ones that the internet using public care about immensely, this is one of the reasons why Brave's partnership with Qwant makes more sense. Brave has since elected to ditch Google as their default search engine and decided to use Qwant in its place for users in Germany and France.

Qwant had been commonly referred to as a search engine which respects the privacy of its users. The . search engine itself doesn't participate in any collection of sharing of users personal information. It instead has its own unique web-indexing technology which protects privacy by refusing . to install cookies . or trackers to help in their advertising goals.

Privacy by Default

It's the combination of these two privacy-centric technologies that helps to bring the matter of user privacy to a whole new level, allowing users to have a choice, either to remain protected online by default. This helps to foster a more sustainable internet which is not driven . on big data and commercial advertising.

As Brendan Eich, CEO and creator of Brave, stated:

“By combining Brave and Qwant, users can enjoy the web in a way that does not violate their privacy.”

By using systems such as Brave's, users will no longer be susceptible to being the product for sale when they use the internet. Users will also benefit from the experience of faster loading times relative to other popular browsers, allowing them to save money from not loading ads, a more private experience, and the ability to give back to their favorite content producers through the integrated Basic Attention Token (BAT) Wallet.

Conclusion

In spite of the general outlook of the online market, the Brave team continues to make a progression onwards and upwards in their marketing and development. And having such a fantastic product supported by a highly skilled team, BAT investors still have a great does to continue to look forward to.
