It’s no secret that Craig Wright as a singular entity has created a significant amount of division within the crypto industry, with his notorious Bitcoin Cash hardfork – called Bitcoin SV (BSV) – and incessant claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto leading him to be the target of a significant amount of hate from crypto enthusiasts.

Although Wright may have a small group of Bitcoin SV fanboys convinced that he is the Bitcoin founder and that BSV is the “real Bitcoin,” it doesn’t appear that he has fooled Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, who recently slammed the Bitcoin Cash hard fork and Wright.

Bitcoin SV Shill Conference Falsely Eludes that Wikipedia Partnership is In the Pipeline

Jimmy Wales, the founder of the highly popular information sharing platform Wikipedia, is slated to be one of the keynote speakers at CoinGeek London, which is essentially just a Bitcoin SV shill fest.

In a recent press release about Wales presence at the event, CoinGeek seems to elude to the fact that the Wikipedia founder is a fan of BSV, and that the cryptocurrency will be used to power micropayments for Wikipedia.

“Wikipedia seeks to offer a place where genuine and transparent information can be accessed… Until the emergence of Bitcoin SV (BSV) to reclaim Bitcoin’s original design, no blockchain had the scalability to power micropayments to efficiently reward better user information and handle the staggering amount of data Wikipedia carries.”

In a response to this on Twitter, Jimmy explained that BSV micropayments on his site is a “terrible idea,” further adding that he believes CoinGeek falsely marketed his stance on Bitcoin SV.

“Don’t worry, I’ll speak my mind, just as I always do.  I’ve asked them to update the marketing materials to make it clear that I do not endorse BSV in any way at all. I think I will wear my ‘I am Satoshi Nakamoto’ shirt,” he said in response to someone claiming that he is legitimizing CoinGeek.

Oh! Glad to hear that. No, I'm not. Don't worry, I'll speak my mind, just as I always do. I've asked them to update the marketing materials to make it clear that I do not endorse BSV in any way at all.

I think I will wear my "I am Satoshi Nakamoto" shirt.

— Jimmy Wales (@jimmy_wales) February 7, 2020

It is imperative to note that although Wales and other prominent figures may be speaking at CoinGeek’s Bitcoin SV-themed event, this doesn’t mean that they are in any way endorsing the embattled cryptocurrency.
