According to search metrics from Google Trends, the most popular searches in June among altcoins were for Tron, Ripple, NEO, and EOS. While Bitcoin remains by far the most searched crypto term, the other altcoin search terms provide an interesting insight into the development of the altcoin market.

The results would suggest that (especially with regard to EOS and NEO) there is an increasing interest in the area of decentralized apps (DApps). Both the platforms mentioned above allow third-party developers to make applications on their chains which utilize crypto and blockchain functionality.

Meanwhile, Ripple (XRP) capitalized on the recent announcements of partnerships with major financial institutions, including a release in collaboration with Santander bank of a rapid international fiat money transfer system that is underpinned by their Ripple blockchain.

Tron for its part has generated consistent publicity over the past few weeks, most notably with a big token burn and a partnership announced with pornhub.com. It has benefitted from the involvement of Justin Sun, its founder, in the wider crypto online community. Some recent drama involving Vitalik Buterin accusing the Tron team of plagiarism also raised public interest in Tron, as reflected previously on the Google Trends analysis.
