Russia’s VSU, DSTU & NSU Universities To Offer Crypto Classes & Diplomas

More and more academic institutions in Russia are offering educational courses. They are also offering postgraduate programs in blockchain and crypto technologies.

Now three universities will teach subjects related to crypto and digital economy during the new academic year that will begin in September. Some of the courses will be given in English with guest speakers from Europe, India and the United States.

Russian Universities At The Forefront In Crypto Education

Three Russian universities have announced new courses and specializations related to cryptocurrencies and crypto technologies. Educational programs will be offered as the new academic year begins this fall. They cover a wide range of topics, including cryptography, blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), alternative payment systems, digital economy, accounting and management.

Some of the courses will be taught in English and are aimed at foreign students. It also seeks to attract Russian students seeking career opportunities in the international cryptocurrency space environment.

Courses And Diplomas Voronezh State University (VSU):

The VSU has established a degree program that focuses on the study of the digital economy and blockchain technology, the institution announced on its website. The new specialty “Models and methods for analyzing the digital economy” is offered by the Department of Information Technology and Mathematical Methods in Economics. Classes will begin on September 18.

The program's curriculum provides in-depth training in the use of modern information technology analysis. This program aims to ensure the universality of the knowledge acquired, as well as the broad scope of its application in various types of economic activities and at different levels of government, the university said in the statement.

The announcement also highlights the importance of developing new technologies and training specialists in the light of the implementation of the Digital Economy Program adopted by the Russian government.

Don State Technical University (DSTU):

The DSTU will offer two master's degree programs in blockchain technologies, the press service of which announced this week: “Intellectual systems based on blockchain technologies” and “Digital accounting and management”. Students will learn the necessary skills to develop new information systems and create modern electronic payment methods and structures.

Don State Technical will offer graduate students the opportunity to study DLT technology in depth. They see blockchain as a promising technology that is rapidly being introduced in almost every area of life.

The Vice Rector, Alexey Belskopilniy, emphasized that the demand for specialists in this field is growing every day. The master's programs have therefore been developed in cooperation with the University of Nicosia. The Russian university will also invite foreign professors to teach on these topics. And he plans to offer English courses in the future as well.

Master In Crypto Novosibirsk State University (NSU):

The NSU is another Russian higher education institution that is taking the lead on the subject of crypto. They are already teaching courses in English similar to the VSU and the DSTU.

In September, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics will accept the first 15 students of its master's degree program in crypto, according to an announcement posted on its Web site. The first official program will offer to study encryption techniques and blockchain technologies as part of an intensive two-year modular training program.

Already experts in the field from different countries such as Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Norway, France, India and the United States, as well as Russian specialists in crypto, have been invited to teach at the NSU this fall. Classes will be taught in English to attract students from all over the world. The university also hopes to obtain international certification and accreditation for its diplomas.

Russian University System And Crypto

The new programs are being introduced more widely in Russia after major Russian universities announced specialized courses in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies in 2017. Among them are the Moscow State University, the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University, the National University of Science and Technology (MISiS), the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

The introduction of these curricula comes in response to the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and also to the strong demand for crypto and blockchain professionals in Russia.
