The problem about crypto sphere is that too many actions are required from the potential users of crypto wallets and stuff of the kind. A person has to be really enthusiastic and interested in the topic to become actively involved in the crypto society. But the situation is likely to change as one of the top internet giants has announced the built-in Ethereum wallet for desktop browser.

Opera is one of the most popular browsers in the world. Even though it is highly unlikely that this platform will outperform Chrome or Safari in the nearest future, Opera steadily makes the top five list during long years. But it looks like the browser has the potential to win the crypto sphere. And this is no small matter.

Opera is backed by Chinese Bitcoin mining giant Bitmain , so it did not come as a big surprise when it announced the release of a built-in cryptocurrency wallet and support for Ethereum decentralized apps in its version for Android in the beginning of July 2018. The unique offer has attracted lots of attention and the next stage of development was simple to predict.

Krystian Kolondra, Executive Vice President of Desktop of Opera’s browsers division, commented on the announcement of the desktop version of Ethereum wallet: “After making crypto payments smooth and easy on mobile, we wanted the find the perfect solution for PCs. We realized the best way is to utilize our new mobile crypto wallet technology and to give our PC users access to it.”

The crypto wallet will support both Ether and Ethereum-based tokens. The desktop version of the wallet is not self-contained: the native crypto wallet integrated in Opera for Android has to be already enabled in order to start work with the desktop version. Even when the connection is established, every transaction is to be confirmed with a fingerprint swipe on the mobile device. However, performing crypto payments on desktop is not the only available feature of the new wallet.

From now on Opera browser will allow its users interact with Dapps on their desktop. It means that Idex, Bancor and much-loved CryptoKitties will be available without downloading extensions. For those people who are not into breeding cryptocats, Opera has come up with one more reason to switch to this browser and the in-built wallet.

The security of the new solution has higher level because of the fingerprint transaction confirmation. It is also worth mentioning that in the beginning of the year both mobile and web versions of Opera got new anti-cryptojacking software.

Opera obviously hopes to find its place in the crypto sphere. Chrome dominates the market just like Google took over the internet search. Safari has the army of supporters thanks to Apple’s marketing strategy. The place of the official browser of the crypto community is still free – and Opera has all the chances to take it.
