McAfee Attacks Bitcoin Again, Calls it An ‘Old and Worthless Coin’; Downplaying His $1M Bet?

2020-7-20 18:07

John McAfee, the antivirus tycoon, and fugitive presidential candidate has been known as the controversial king mainly because of his lifestyle and bold tweets. Once a big-time Bitcoin proponent who claimed that Bitcoin would reach a value of $500,000 dollar per coin, but lately, he has been launching scathing attacks against bitcoin.

In response to his earlier prediction of $500,000 by 2020, where he has said that if his prediction won't come true, he would “eat his d–k on national television,” he responded to that tweet among many Tweeples reminding him of his promise and said bitcoin is old, tired, worthless coin.

Not going to get out of it. I never believed Bitcoin would hit $1 mil. It's absurd. Ir's an old, tired, worthless coin.

I just wanted to eat my dick on TV.

Wait for it.

If people know John McAfee, they will not take his predictions seriously, given his track record on Twitter, which is often filled with intoxicated rants. From running away from law enforcement agencies for years to being a presidential candidate, McAfee has been interested in the crypto space from quite early on. He has even once claimed to reveal the real identity of Bitcoin's pseudo-anonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto but backed out at the end.

McAfee also promoted a “Zombie Coin” and was named in their board of advisors, but later, things went south, and the creators of the coin even threatened to sue him. Recently when he was enquired about what made him turn against bitcoin given, he was such an ardent supporter even in the bearish times. He made the infamous prediction back then itself, McAfee responded:

“If Bitcoin ever hit $1 million, its market cap would be greater than the GDP of the entire North American Continent. What idiot could believe such nonsense?”

None of the precise predictions has aged well in the crypto space, given how absurd they are in the first place and the crypto market in itself of wholly new and volatile. Once the owner of McAfee Antivirus enterprises, McAfee's life has turned a full circle after he refused to pay his taxes and has been on the run from the authorities ever since.
