Crypto Investor Tulsi Gabbard Starts the 2020 Presidential and Political Campaign

The cryptocurrency investor Tulsi Gabbard has taken the decision to enter the 2020 presidential race. Being a cryptocurrency holder makes her a different leader with a different vision about how to deal with digital currencies.

According to congressional filings, it is possible to see that the Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district purchased Ethereum (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC) back in December 2017. As per the filings, she had invested between $1,000 and $15,000 in digital assets. She has also diversified its portfolio buying stocks.

Some reports show that she has very close ideas to Senator Bernie Sanders, that participated in the 2016 presidential race trying to win against Hillary Clinton. Indeed, back in 2016, Gabbard resigned as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee to endorse Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The main question is whether Sanders will be running or he will be supporting her as she did with him a few years ago.

Gabbard has already raised $2 million. Compared to what Elizabeth Warren gathered ($11 million), this seems just very little to win. Nevertheless, this is just the beginning and things can change at any moment. If she makes some favorable comments regarding virtual currencies, she could start receiving donations from Democrat supporters that are crypto enthusiasts as well.

She has some similar ideological points with President Trump. For example, she supported Trump and the deal he has with North Korea. Nevertheless, she was against removing Assad by force or the war in Iraq, among other issues.

During her campaign launch speech she commented:

“We’re being torn apart by powerful, self-serving politicians and greedy corporations. People fomenting hatred, bigotry, and fear. Inciting conflict between us because of the colour of our skin, the way that we worship, or the political party that we might belong to.”

Although she seems to know what she talks about, there are some issues that do not seem very easy to handle. How would she deal with the current conflict in the Middle East? What would she do with Israel and Palestina? How would she face the current trade-war between the United States and China without damaging U.S.’ trade balance even more?

These questions are those that cannot be answered in a simple debate on TV. Trump has been working during the last few years trying to end the conflict with North Korea and put an end to the war in Syria. Whether the results will be positive remain to be seen as well.

Now, she will have to be working in order to be the selected democratic leader to participate in the next presidential elections in the United States.
