Bitcoin (BTC) is trading around $107,500 on Monday, just 3% below its all-time high set in late May.

The cryptocurrency rose 7.32% last week, closing above the $108,000 mark, and has continued to hold near those levels.

If the current rally gains momentum, a decisive break above the previous high could open the door for further gains, with the next key level of interest around $120,000.

Institutional participation remains a key driver of the ongoing strength in Bitcoin, as more firms continue to expand their exposure to digital assets.

The broader recovery in market sentiment has also reignited interest in early-stage and speculative tokens.

Projects like Bitcoin Pepe are attracting risk-tolerant capital, as traders increasingly look toward high-volatility segments of the market for potential upside.

Tokyo-listed Metaplanet has acquired an additional 1,005 BTC worth approximately $108.1 million, pushing its total Bitcoin holdings to 13,350 BTC — now ahead of Galaxy Digital and CleanSpark, according to data from BitcoinTreasuries.net.

CEO Simon Gerovich said the latest purchase was made at an average price of $107,601 per BTC, bringing Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin stash to an estimated value of $1.4 billion at current market prices.

“Just three months ago, we announced live at our shareholder meeting that we hit 3,350 BTC — and now we’ve added 10,000 more to reach 13,350 BTC,” Gerovich wrote on X.

The move positions Metaplanet as the fifth-largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin globally.

Earlier this month, the company also set an ambitious new target: to hold over 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.

As Bitcoin holds steady above key support levels, institutional participation continues to reinforce positive sentiment across the crypto market.

This relatively stable environment is prompting investors to reallocate toward higher-risk segments, with meme coins once again attracting increased capital inflows.

One of the notable beneficiaries is Bitcoin Pepe, a project that sets itself apart from conventional meme tokens by combining cultural virality with a Layer 2 infrastructure play.

Marketed as an effort to “build Solana on Bitcoin,” Bitcoin Pepe aims to deliver the scalability and transaction speed typically associated with Solana while maintaining the security framework of the Bitcoin base layer.

This infrastructure-focused approach distinguishes it from meme coins that rely solely on community-driven hype.

The ongoing presale has raised more than $16.1 million, with growing momentum as the project nears the final phase of its token offering.

According to the team, the BPEP token is slated to be listed on MEXC and BitMart, moves that are expected to enhance liquidity and market visibility.

An additional listing announcement is scheduled for later today, further fueling anticipation as the presale draws to a close.
