World Economic Forum Appoints BitPesa Founder as Its New Co-Chair For Global Blockchain Council

2019-1-25 22:13

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019, which is currently happening in Davos this week, the CEO and founder of the crypto company BitPesa, Elizabeth Rossiello, was appointed as one of the two co-chairs of the Global Blockchain Council.

She will work with industry experts from the council, which has CEOs and regulatory chiefs from all over the world, to determine a new set of agendas for the council. The first meeting was made in Davos now and the next one will be in San Francisco this May when she will begin her role officially.

The council was set up to shape policies all over the world and to strengthen the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution around the globe, especially in the field of cybersecurity, an area that is certainly lacking right now.

According to the WEF, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (a term that has been often the subject is discussions among scholars) is composed of a series of technological efforts that are shaping the way we live and how the public and private sectors are formed by using the technology. The blockchain, since 2016, has been acknowledged as an important part of this change.

The head of a blockchain at the WEF, Sheila Warren, has determined that the reason for choosing Rossiello is because of her technical expertise as a regulator and her ability to bring together people in a very fragmented ecosystem such as the blockchain market.

Rossiello has promised to bring investors together in order to continue the progress of the industry at the WEF.

About BitPesa

BitPesa is an old blockchain company, something that is not very easy to find out these days. The African company was founded in 2013 and its main service is to provide fiat remittances between the United Kingdom and Kenya, but the company has expanded its services to other African countries over time.

Elizabeth Rossiello, the CEO of the company, has been one of the founders of BitPesa and has been determining its ways since the company started its business.
