In a recent Twitter thread, user @StockmoneyL laid out their reasoning for why Ethereum will outperform Bitcoin through the end of 2025. Drawing on factors like Ethereum’s move to proof-of-stake, the growth of ETH staking, Ethereum’s smart contract capabilities, its smaller market cap, upcoming Ethereum ETFs, and Bitcoin’s price cycles, Stockmoney Lizards built a compelling case.
Scarcity and Staking Changes
As Stockmoney Lizards explained, “Ethereum became deflationary following the merge/triple halving in September 2022, marking a fundamental shift in ETH’s supply. This deflationary change is new and has not been the case since its release in 2015.” They added that with staking, “Currently, over 28.5 million ETH are staked and unavailable on the market. This represents approximately 24% of all ETH, and the ratio is steadily increasing.”
Greater Utility Through Smart Contracts
Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum enables decentralized apps, NFTs, DeFi, gaming, metaverse, and AI applications through its ability to support smart contracts. “This ft. significantly enhances Ethereum’s utility compared to Bitcoin,” noted Stockmoney Lizards. With greater utility comes greater demand and value.
Smaller Market Cap Allows for More Growth
While Bitcoin has a much larger market cap, Stockmoney Lizards pointed out, “the smaller market cap is expected to result in a higher price surge” for Ethereum. The upcoming launch of Ethereum ETFs will “allow access to buying crypto via the classic stock market” and “drive the price much higher for Ethereum than for Bitcoin.

Finally, analyzing Bitcoin’s historical price cycles, Stockmoney Lizards concluded “the next bull run is just around the corner” and “expected to last until approximately the end of 2025.” They reasoned, “This projection holds true for Ethereum as well.” Given all the factors in Ethereum’s favor, the case is strong it will continue outperforming Bitcoin over that timeframe.
