A trio of Samsung AI researchers recently developed a neural network capable of rendering photorealistic graphical scenes with a novel viewpoint from a video. In the above video we see a 3D rendering of a complex scene.

It was created by turning a video input into a bunch of points representing the geometry of the scene. The points, which form a cloud, are then fed to a neural network that renders them as computer graphics. TNW reached out to Dmitry Ulyanov, a researcher at Samsung and one of the authors on the team’s paper, to find out more about the project. …

Samsung’s new AI can create talking avatars with a single photo

Samsung’s research center at Moscow has developed a new AI that can create talking avatars of photos and paintings without using any 3D modeling. A paper posted by the research team suggests that while traditionally researchers have used a large number of images to create a talking head model, a new technique can achieve it by few, or potentially even one image.

The new Motorola Razr looks tiny when folded, according to this video

We’ve known for a while Motorola is planning on reviving its Razr brand, jumping on the folding phone bandwagon with its own take on the concept that far removed from Huawei or Samsung’s. Though we’ve leaked materials showing what the phone will look like when open, a video posted on Weibo gives us a good look at what the folding mechanism may look like – and how compact the phone will be when closed.

Here’s a 34-second video of Samsung folding the Galaxy Fold over and over again

In case you haven’t heard, Samsung is working on a bendable phone. Since it first entered the fold (pun intended), we’ve wondered one thing: will folding the device over and over again show on the display? After all, things that fold tend to form creases, and as cool as a bendable display is, no one wants to use one with a giant damaged vertical strip running through the center.
