Vitalik Buterin on BCH Civil War: Call Craig Wright ‘Bitcoin Craig’ (BCC) as successor Of Bitconnect

2018-8-25 20:18

The founder of Ethereum and arguably one of the most influential personalities of the crypto community, Vitalik Buterin recently tweeted about the current heated civil war within the Bitcoin Cash community.

The BCH community should NOT compromise with Craig Wright to "avoid a split" and should embrace it as an opportunity to conclusively ostracize and reject him. Bitcoin Craig (BCC) can go take the ticker symbol from the now-defunct cryptocurrency to which it is a fitting successor.

nChain recently announced the launch of Bitcoin SV, a full node implementation for Bitcoin BCH. Bitcoin SV, created per a special request by CoinGeek and other Bitcoin BCH miners, was designed to fulfill the original vision of Satoshi Nakamoto, which favored methodical implementations of the blockchain over unnecessary changes that don’t enhance the network.

Bitcoin SV’s initial plan was to raise the BCH block size to 128MB, which, understandably, led to a debate on how to address the maximum block size pre-coded in BCH full node implementation, expressly the maximum block size that a Bitcoin BCH miner will accept from a miner.

Vitalik’s criticism of the proposed changes to Bitcoin Cash

When a Twitter user asked to Vitalik to criticize the technical merits of nChain, Vitalik went to great depths to do so. Listed below are some of the points.

128 MB blocks — right now absolutely unnecessary and dangerous. The median block size over the last month is just 37 kB. There are still no blocks larger than 8 MB despite the limit is 32 MB now. 128MB blocksize limit is dangerous because it could allow attackers to put truly unprecedented levels of load on the network at very low cost, massively increasing stale rates and potentially causing the network to slow to a crawl. Gigabyte testnets are NOT the same thing as actual experience under adversarial conditions. Canonical transaction ordering — it breaks a lot of software using Bitcoin Cash for a very little gain unless the blocks are way larger than 1GB. This change will force businesses to pay for development and testing. Bitcoin Cash needs a proper transparent miner voting system (like BIP9) ASAP. Otherwise, it’s once again all about backroom deals between devs and politicians.

He added the following Tweet to conclude:

There's also his fatally disqualifying signs of technical incompetence:https://t.co/ZEMmC2YMPW

And the #FakeToshi thing.

Don't let scandal N become forgotten just because everyone gets worked up about scandal N+1. That's how these people win.
