United Nations’ UNODC and Doc.com to Start a Blockchain Telemedicine Program in Eastern Africa

On December 26th, popular crypto news outlet Cointelegraph has reported that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will partner with Doc.com, a telemedicine and a telepsychology firm to grow on the healthcare services in East Africa.

Docademic is a company founded in Mexico by former Med Students who created a method of offering Free Basic Medical Health Services to the public. This may seem simple to grasp but it’s quite complicated and it is why their company is now on a path to change the world of medicine as we know it.

Docademic has created a digital token called the Medical Token Currency, also known as MTC. In addition to creating the digital currency, Docademic is creating an entire healthcare services platform on the blockchain. That platform is called Docademic. The goal is for MTC to become the token of choice for a growing ecosystem of healthcare services provided by the Docademic platform. Docademic is already available to download for iOS and Android. Now, with MTC, the company plans to allow users to make digital currency payments through the app.

The main goal of the Docademic app is to provide free medical assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Patients can stay in constant contact with their doctor or any medical professional. With the press of a button, Docademic’s app will provide free medical assistance from certified doctors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Doctors can benefit from the platform by accessing special healthcare tools and resources. Docademic offers over 600+ journals from around the world, classified by specialty. Patients can use Docademic to receive instant medical assistance from a certified Docademic doctor. Service is fast and easy: all you need is a smartphone and an internet connection.

Regional Representative for UNODC’s Regional Office for Eastern Africa (ROEA) had announced earlier this week about the partnership. They plan to execute their plans by the second quarter of 2019 and hope to target millions of people through this initiative.

The company as further plans to launch their tokenized telemedicine service in the United Kingdom by March 2019. They want to dive into much required Asian markets to starting with India y the end of next year.

Earlier this year BitcoinExchangeGuide had reported about popular crypto influencer John McAfee being in favor of the token MTC calling it “a diamond among trash”.
