Twitter users could soon be able to list their BTC and ETH addresses

A recent unconfirmed rumor reveals that Twitter might be working on new crypto-related functionality. According to what is said, it might be planning to allow users to list their Bitcoin (BTC/USD) and Ethereum (ETH/USD) addresses as part of their profiles, thus supporting the crypto industry in yet another way.

The new update is said to be a new part of the so-called Tip Jar feature, which the platform introduced in May 2021. On top of that, it adds to the new reports which have been circulating in the crypto industry throughout this week.

If true, it would mean that the company is planning to allow users to start tipping content creators with Bitcoin.

Another thing that almost confirms the rumors is a series of screenshots published on the platform by Alessandro Paluzzi, an Italian mobile developer who describes himself as a “leaker.” Paluzzi published the screenshots earlier today, September 3rd, showing BTC and ETH wallet address options listed in the app version of Twitter.

So far, the company neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, but its product lead, Kayvon Beykpour, retweeted another tweet published by Paluzzi, on September 1st. That particular tweet says that “Twitter is working on the ability to receive tips in Bitcoin.”

Now, as some may remember, Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, did mention back in July that Bitcoin tipping is one of the goals that Twitter aims to achieve — eventually. However, it would appear that the goal might be in store sooner than everyone believed.

And, given that Dorsey is a huge Bitcoin supporter, and even a so-called maximalist, this really isn’t much of a surprise. A more surprising aspect, however, is the apparent inclusion of Ethereum, especially since Dorsey refused to have anything to do with the coin in the past.
