Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr., an American football player who is currently the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is interested in getting some of his salary in crypto. The seven-time Super Bowl winner revealed this news during a recent SiriusXM podcast. According to the NFL star, Bitcoin (BTC/USD), Ethereum (ETH/USD), and Solana (SOL/USD) are the coins he would like to receive.

Talking about cryptos in the podcast, Brady said,

I think it’s an amazing thing that’s happening in the world with the way the world is becoming more digital. And these digital currencies, along with a lot of, if you look how the way the world is going, with all these different digital mediums and how they’re impacting currencies.

Brady added that he sees a world where players are going to get paid in crypto in the future. With the professional footballer making such comments, it would not be a surprise if he decides to invest a portion of his $50-million (£36,640,250.00) salary over the next two seasons in crypto.

While he would love to get part of his salary in crypto, it is worth noting that this is not Brady’s first foray into crypto. He and his wife, Gisele Bündchen, first invested in Sam Bankman-Fried-led FTX Trading Limited.

NFL continues embracing crypto

Before Brady, NY Giants’ Saquon Barkley said he intends to convert all the money he gets from endorsement and marketing deals to BTC. At the time, Barkley said the rising inflation had made it impossible to save wealth through fiat currencies. He pointed out that he always knew he would live off his marketing money before joining the NFL.

Explaining the motivation behind his decision to venture into crypto, Barkley said,

When you see the KDs, the Lebrons and Bradys of the world and you want to create generational wealth, you can’t do that with the sport that I play and the position that I play and coming off of injuries.

In December last year, Russell Okung, offensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers, converted half of his $13 million NFL salary into BTC. Since then, the coin broke out on a bull rally that saw it rise from approximately $27,000 (£19,785.73) to set an all-time high of $64,863.10 (£47,532.00) in May. While BTC has since plunged to $42,435.75 (£31,097.13) at the time of writing, Okung’s initial investment has still paid off.
