ThunderMessage, Reddit’s Blockchain Rival, Uses Bitcoin & Lightning Network Features

2018-7-28 12:42

ThunderMessage, a platform similar to that of Reddit, has added a new feature that might have helped the former overtake the latter. It has been revealed that users will have the opportunity to invest One Satoshi, which is equivalent to 0.00000001 BTC, to either upvote or downvote a post.

The reason for implementing this process, is to ensure that quality content is found on ThunderMessage, as opposed to useless posts that many crypto fanatics call “shitposts”. Forcing users to spend, will help content writers better their material, as an upvote represents support and a downvote reflects the need for more improvement. According to a report published by The Next Web, ThunderMessage’s approach depicted here matches a concept called ‘Decentralised Quality Filter Principle’.

As for the voting process, users will have to do so through a Lightning Network-supporting bitcoin wallet, where posts that get at least one vote will be published. While the minimum payment is one Satoshi, if users are extremely fond of a post, they can express so with higher payments – the same can be done to turn down a post.

Each transaction will evidently be completed upon scanning a QR code, which will be done instantly due to the embedded Lightning Network.
