Sophia, the humanoid robot that became popular for addressing a United Nations conference, is moving into the metaverse. A tokenized version of the robot will be released soon, which will allow autonomous interactions in a gamified environment.

Sophia is a robot created in 2016 by Hansen Robotics, a Hong Kong-based firm. The robot’s communication skills and speaking abilities have made it very popular, and it has even been granted Saudi citizenship.

A blog post published on December 6 stated that the Sophia robot would soon move into the NFT space. This initiative has been made possible through a partnership between Alethea AI and the Binance NFT marketplace.

 “This groundbreaking partnership will launch its first Intelligent IGO (Initial Game Offering) featuring one hundred intelligent NFTs. The IGO will showcase a history-making limited-edition one hundred Intelligent NFTs featuring Sophia being AI,” the blog post read.

Moreover, the post notes that the NFT collection will be dubbed “The Transmedia Universe of Sophia being AI.”

The NFT auction will take place for five days, with twenty iNFTs being released each day. The last day of the NFT auction is December 21.

Alethea AI is an intelligent non-fungible token (iNFT) production firm. The term iNFT refers to a revolutionary NFT developed with artificial intelligence. These NFTs have an AI personality, bringing programmability into their smart contracts. Moreover, these NFTs are intelligent enough to interact with people in real-time in a gamified environment.

The announcement further notes that the 100 iNFTs will be supported on Noah’s Ark, a decentralized metaverse project on Alethea AI.

The NFT collection art will be illustrated by Pat Lee. Lee is a popular comic artist who has worked in the graphics for Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Lee has also worked with different franchises such as Batman, Ironman, Spiderman and Superman.

Noah’s ARK was launched in October, and its aim is to support iNFTs on the metaverse. The platform aims at ensuring its metaverse can be “inhabited by interactive and intelligent NFTs.”

The CEO of Alethea AI, Arif Khan, commented on this development, stating,

This is not the first time the Sophia robot is venturing into the NFT sector. In March, the humanoid robot was involved in an NFT auction through the Nifty Gateway platform. It continues to attract much interest because of its abilities.

In 2017, during the Future Investment Initiative Conference, Sophia showed that she understands human emotions after making different faces that depicted happiness, sadness or anger. In 2019, Sophia stated that he understood cryptocurrencies, but she did not hold any digital assets.
