Winding Tree is a travel distribution platform based on blockchain technology. On 17th October 2018, the company released a statement indicating that it had entered into a partnership agreement with Sciant that would make it possible for it to make its HTNG (Hospitality Technology Next Generation) standards compatible with those of its new partners.

Sciant is a software and information technology outsourcing provider that focuses on travel technology. This new partnership will see it come up with an adaptation code that will make it possible to convert its HTNG standard messaging formats compatible with those being used by Winding Tree.

Currently, many PMS (property management systems), CRS (central reservation systems), and supply systems (channel managers) utilize the information exchange standard that was developed by HTNG when sending hotel rates and room availability details to interested online travel agencies who can help them distribute their rooms.

However, for them to be able to work with blockchain-based distribution platforms, e.g., Winding Tree, the providers are required to make changes to their current product catalogs through the implementation of a new user interface. This is a task that many providers do not have the resources or technical know-how to implement.

Sciant is, therefore, trying to come up with an adaptor that will be used by providers whose clients are using the HTNG data exchange to distribute their rooms. The adaptor will make it easier for them to easily connect to this platform without having to make any critical changes to the existing product rates and inventory.

Once connected, the rates and inventory will automatically start flowing from the available supply systems. Winding Tree will then be able to share the data through its platform, and then transmit the reservation information back to the service providers.

Channel managers and PMS companies will be in a position to download the code for the adaptor, which they will then use to integrate into their available products without incurring any costs. The code for the open-source adaptor will be hosted in the GitHub code repository. The public will be able to download this code from the repository.
