RippleX, the development wing of Ripple Inc., announces its “first important milestone” – xrpl4j – a java library to interact with its XRP Ledger (XRPL) platform.

XRP Ledger Foundation announced on Twitter it has successfully submitted its first-ever project on its GitHub repository, calling it an “important milestone” in the future of RippleX, the development wing on Ripple Inc. The project, xrpl4j, created by lead developers at Ripple X, is a Java library that allows users to integrate with the XRPL platform directly.

According to the description on GitHub, xrpl4j is a “pure Java implementation of the core functionality necessary to interact with the XRP Ledger.” The library does not provide a network client but does support the “difficult tasks of XRPL serialization and transaction signing,” the statement further reads. Additionally, the library will provide users with useful Java bindings directly to the XRPL, objects on the platform, and “rippled request/response objects.”

The new library was built and developed with Maven, a Java-based tool, to create a multi-module architecture for XRPL users. One of the modules adopts Bitcoin original client’s solution in creating converting seed phrases, addresses, and public keys into the Base58Check encoding (XRP’s encoding language). This opens up a new gateway for XRP developers to integrate Java libraries to their XRPL platforms.

The XRPL community has grown substantially over the past year, with the University of Tokyo joining as an XRPL node validator and significant amendments proposed on the platform by key members of the Ripple community. Such growth led to Ripple Inc. launching the XRPL Foundation to boost adoption and accelerate development within the community. XRPL Foundation is dedicated to securing funds, pressing for the mass adoption of XRP, and its continued application by developers.
