Civic Technologies, a leading digital identity solutions innovator, has launched a free tool for creators and NFT marketplaces called Ignite Pass. The tool eliminates bot participation in NFT drops and mints, Invezz learned from a press release.
Ignite Pass, a free version of Civic’s groundbreaking Civic Pass, will require buyers to prove they are human. It is easy to integrate and does not require storage of personal details.
With the company’s integration guides, both artists and marketplaces can start using Ignite Pass on Solana (SOL/USD) today. Ignite Pass helps maintain an equitable and transparent network of community members for NFT drops and mints.
Invezz talks to Chris Hart, CEO of Civic Technologies, about this and other developments.
Civic Technologies introduces Ignite Pass today, a free tool for creators and NFT marketplaces that filters out bot participation in NFT drops and mints. What is the biggest advantage of this tool?
Unfortunately, NFT drops and mints have started to look very similar to the release of concert tickets from 10-15 years ago. Many of us have had the experience of being a fan and supporter of an artist and taking the time to be online at the precise moment to buy tickets, only to be disappointed when scalpers bought out the tickets in seconds just to resell them. Ignite Pass from Civic solves this problem for NFTs. We think it is important that true supporters of NFT projects have an equal opportunity to participate, and while this is not guarantee that everyone eventually mints an NFT, it levels the playing field to only include real people.
How will the tool verify liveness? Will it be possible to ‘cheat’ the tool? How big of a risk is there?
The Civic Ignite pass verifies liveness using 3D face mapping technology on any browser or mobile device. This technology goes well beyond legacy 2D liveness detection. Our biometrics partner maintains an active $100k anti-spoof bounty program to ensure any vulnerabilities that are found, if any, can be quickly addressed.
How can Civic enable compliance with future regulatory requirements for the DeFi and NFT industry?

What do you believe the future holds for NFTs?
We believe NFTs are poised to not only revitalize the digital art world, but also to transform many other industries like music, and to unlock the future of the metaverse and enable Web 3.0 applications. An NFT in the future will establish everything from proof of support, to proof of membership, proof of employment, proof of education, proof of gaming attributes, and will represent real world credentials like what schools you attended and the house you own.
In what areas is Civic developing real-world applications apart from NFTs and DeFi? What are some other applications of the technology?
One of the most interesting applications we’ve worked on recently is age verification for vending machines. We recently placed a few of these machines in the University of Las Vegas’ Blackfire Technology Laboratory. The idea that you can have age-restricted products for sale without having to staff the point of purchase, and still regulate the lawfulness of each sale is a perfect fit for places like Las Vegas, where quickness and convenience is the name of the game.
