The U.S. Congresswomen Tulsi Gabbard, which is currently running for president of the United States in 2020, purchased virtual currencies back in December 2017. The congresswomen from Hawaii informed that she purchased Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) when they were reaching their highest price ever registered.

During a conversation with CNN, she commented that she will be running for president and that she will make the formal announcement within the next week. One of the things Tulsi Gabbard proposed is to help the US avoid more conflicts in the Middle East.

The candidate for the Democratic party seems to have very slim possibilities to succeed and winning the Democrat Party’s nomination. There are many other candidates that have been working in order to be presidential candidates for the same party. However, some of them have criticized virtual currencies. This is the case of Senator Elizabeth Warren that says that cryptocurrencies are used by scams.

According to the federal filings, she purchased between $1,001 and $15,000 of Ether and Litecoin back in 2017. At that time, Bitcoin was reaching its all-time high of $20,000. Litecoin was also reaching its highest point close to $420 in some exchanges. Ethereum was traded around $1,400 in January 2018.

These assets lost more than 90% of their value during the year, with the exception of Bitcoin. A few weeks ago, Ethereum was traded close to $82 and Litecoin around $23.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is being traded around $3,650, Litecoin close to $32 and Ethereum can be purchased for $126. Although we do not know whether she sold the digital assets or not, most of crypto traders and holders are down if they purchased at the top of the market.

During the last months, several skeptics in the crypto world have attacked virtual currencies for losing most of their value throughout 2018 and the beginning of 2019.

The White House has also Bitcoin supporters such as Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House Chief of Staff. He has been a Bitcoin and crypto supporter since 2014. This is also very important for space and to spread crypto knowledge among the highest authorities in the United States.
