WISeKey is a platform that offers support for secure authentication and identification, which is performed with the use of the Root of Trust, a cryptographic tool from the same platform.

Their operations and portfolio of work often involve the use of Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain technology. According to an annoucement on the official website, the company has now launched a new facility in Geneva – a Blockchain Center of Excellence.

The Blockchain Center of Excellence will be helping startups in the region to progress in their technological research, along with their creation of new tech options.

It will help with the advancement of blockchain technology as well, as it partners with the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI). BRI is presently working to expand to more locations involving Africa, India, China, the United States, and Latin America.

Overall, the hope of these global blockchain centers is to work with other local centered for business, academia, and other topics to share their resources. Each center will be able to build upon their expertise. For instance, while Geneva puts its energy towards fintech, Argentina will be zeroing in on counterfeiting platforms.

The launch of the Global Blockchain Center in Malaysia happened last week, as WISeKey partnered with Censof. The Malaysian tech subsidiary’s director, Ameer bin Shaik Mydin, said,

“The potential benefits of blockchain will help drive efficiencies for our clients.”

Just over a week ago, the platform formed a collaboration with Race for Water Foundation to help reduce the amount of pollution in the world’s ocean through blockchain technology.

As such, WISeKey will created a digital identity for the individual plastic products of the companies that choose to get involved. As recycling efforts progress, clean up crews will be able to use the QR code to record the status of the plastic on the blockchain.
