The independent and international group, City of Zion is a global consortium of coders, source developers and other specialists, who have been working on the NEO core and its ecosystem. Moving NEO to a decentralized network has been nothing of an easy task.

The network has since begun the journey onto the City of Zion Consensus Node, even going so far to put it above the NEO MainNet. Some are going so far as to say the node is already running optimally on the NEO Network TestNet and has been for the last six months during the event of the elections:

KPN: The biggest telecom company in the Netherlands. KPN gives internet access to as many 2.1 million all over Western Europe.

Fenbushi Capital: Primarily focused on building world-class companies, enabled with the blockchain technology. It was named as one of the top five venture-based firms according to BC insights. This VC firm has finally invested over $50 million in specialized blockchain projects, as well as the founder of Ethereum – Vitalik Buterin, who is an advisor.

The KPN and Fenbushi Capital has their own consensus nodes that have been in operation, running on NEO’s TestNet since sometime in April of 2018.

NEO has officially framed a soft rollout for the decentralization of their network. This is a part of the meditated strategy that was agreed upon by the source developers. The new strategy gives the primary group of coders on the network the ability to apply much faster upgrades to the network.

Founder of Da Hongfei also commented on the situation during an interview at DevCon:

“We have to be very careful with decentralization of the consensus nodes, because the protocol of NEO is evolving very fast. We need those consensus nodes to act very quickly to upgrade, and if there is a bug or a security issue, we need them to respond very quickly. So, we’re doing the decentralisation process slowly, gradually and very carefully.”

NEO has finally released a timeline on the process of decentralization that is occurring, including the plans NEO has made to start the network for a public campaign in which the election of consensus nodes sometime in 2019.
