MiVote announced during Houston For Change that it will be working alongside Orange Generation to conduct a vote on gun policies. The twist? The two parties involved have decided to use the Ethereum blockchain to safe guard the results and to primarily rid the event from misrepresentation, illegal voting and others.

Both MiVote and Orange Generation have stemmed out of necessity, as both address societal issues. While the former, an Australia-based firm, seeks to protect democracy, provide transparency and ensure that every individual’s opinions have been voiced accurately, the latter was founded as a result of the ongoing battle with gun violence in America.

As for the voting, it has been scheduled to take place in October, and those wishing to take part can do so via the MiVote USA website. It has also been revealed that Horizon State will be part of this endeavor, taking on the role of technical aspects, that is, to ensure the platform is properly working.

Based on the claims made, MiVote and Orange Generation have relations with the United Nations (UN), for the sole purpose of accomplishing the “Sustainable Development Goals”, as per AMBCrypto.

Many Reddit users have also expressed enthusiasm, especially considering the fact that blockchain technology is being used for the greater good. One user expressed their liking for MiVote’s goal to “deliver unbiased information to voters to make informed decisions”.
