Microsoft Corp remains committed to further expanding its footprint in artificial intelligence even though its stock has already gained more than 50% on the back of its investments in Gen AI.

On Wednesday, the tech behemoth unveiled a custom artificial intelligence chip it’s calling the Maia 100 that will likely compete with the ever-so famous GPUs of Nvidia Corp. Timeline for that chip’s launch, however, remains unknown.

The multinational also did not compare the performance of the Maia 100 and the Nvidia H100 at its Ignite conference in Seattle where it announced the AI chip. According to Ben Bajarin – the Chief Executive of Creative Strategies, though:

This is not something that’s displacing Nvidia … Microsoft has a very different kind of core opportunity here because they’re making a lot of money per user for the services.

Nonetheless, what’s important is that Microsoft continues to invest rather aggressively into artificial intelligence not just in terms of software but hardware as well which speaks volumes to the kind of future opportunity the Nasdaq-listed firm sees in AI.

And that opportunity will likely be meaningful for the recently launched projects like Memeinator as well.
