The rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is probably the most exciting event to hit the boxing arena this year. While Pacquiao is no doubt busy with his preparations for the upcoming match, the Filipino boxer is also equally busy with his preparations for an important event in a totally different arena – the launch of his own cryptocurrency called PAC token.
PAC TokenIn fact, Manny Pacquiao, who is also a Philippine senator, has been named as one of the celebrities who will make an appearance in the upcoming Blockchain Fair Asia 2018 event. He will make a special guest appearance during the two-day event to promote his own GCOX powered cryptocurrency called PAC token.
Pacquiao first announced plans of launching his own cryptocurrency on April 18, 2018, according to Rappler. The boxer revealed that the token will allow fans to interact with him via live-streaming and can also be used as payment for his merchandise.
Pacquiao explained that the PAC could be used for a lot of things, saying:
“It can be a way to be in touch with the fan base and (there are) a lot of things we can do with this cryptocurrency.”
At the moment, not much is known about Pacquiao’s cryptocurrency. It was mentioned that the token would be launched on the later part of 2018. However, no specific date has yet been given, and it is also likely that Manny Pacquiao might include the ICO details during his promotion of the token in the Blockchain Fair Asia event, which will run from October 11 to 12 in Manila. What is known at the moment is that PAC has a total supply of 1 trillion tokens based on the Etherscan.io site.
GCOX-Powered CryptoPacquiao’s cryptocurrency will be powered by Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX), a Singapore-based firm which the boxer has also invested in. The company bills itself as the first platform to tokenize popularity being the “first cryptocurrency exchange in the world that lists the personal cryptocurrencies of celebrities.”
Aside from Manny Pacquiao, the company lists Bin Zayed Group Chair H.H Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Heliconia Capital Management Chairman Lim How Teck, JIT Holdings founder, and Chairman Tommie Goh, and former England National footballer Michael Owen as among the firm’s notable private investors.
