The Berkshire Hathaway billionaire and a Wall Street legend, Warren Buffett, will be having lunch with leaders from the crypto world later this month. Tron’s founder, Justin Sun, is leading the meeting after outbidding other competitors and winning the ticket for $4.55 million. Surprisingly, Buffett is having lunch with the supporters of crypto which the billionaire sees “no unique value” and considers to be “rat poison squared.”

As Sun noted in a Medium post:

“We in the community know we have a long road ahead of us to educate the mainstream on blockchain’s value and proper use cases. … I look at the upcoming lunch with Buffett as an opportunity to seek mutual understanding and growth. To aid in the conversation and support the overall cryptocurrency and blockchain community, I will invite several industry leaders.”

To maintain a balance, Sun has invited crypto leaders across a wide range in the crypto sphere.

For example, Helen Haiyu, the head of Binance Charity Foundation (BCF), is among those who have confirmed that they will accompany Justin Sun to New York for lunch with the Wall Street legend. Binance Charity is a non-profit organization that has ties with the Binance exchange and which is dedicated to the blockchain-enabled philanthropy.

In her acceptance tweet, Haiyu said:

“It is my great honor to join Justin Sun and Warren Buffet next week to discuss crypto & philanthropy.”

Recently, BFC singed an MoU with a Ugandan NGO to improve education in the country. Additionally, BCF provided breakfast and lunch under its “Lunch for Children” pilot charity initiative in Uganda. Apart from Uganda, BCF is focused on expanding into Africa with Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda being on the list of beneficiaries.

Therefore, having the head of BCF on the same table with Buffett will go a long way into convincing the billionaire that crypto has a role in helping humanity.

Another guest is Yoni Assia, the founder, and CEO of eToro, the social investment network. In a tweet replying to Sun’s invitation, Assia said:

“Justin, It is my honor to join you for lunch with Warren Buffett. A big step for bridging between the traditional finance world and the new one. There is a huge opportunity to use blockchain for good.”

With eToro enabling traders to invest in the global stock market and infusing cryptocurrencies, Assia is the best choice to show Buffett there is nothing wrong with Bitcoin and other virtual currencies. eToro is secure and fully compliant with CySEC and FCA regulations.

Circle Pay’s founder, Jeremy Allaire, is also part of the team that will try and educate the Berkshire Hathaway billionaire on the merits of cryptocurrencies. Circle Pay is a mobile payment platform developed by Circle, a P2P payments technology company.

While it’s unfortunate that Circle Pay is shutting down its mobile app this September, it works in favor of the charity lunch meeting; to show that dealing in “raw” fiat is no longer profitable.

While announcing the closure of Circle Pay, Circle Team said:

Over its successful, five-year lifespan,…Circle pay has clarified the path forward by highlighting the robust, global demand for people to exchange value as seamlessly as they exchange information. …We will continue to work toward connecting every person on the planet through an open financial system built on crypto assets and blockchain technology.”

The fourth crypto leader to join Sun and Buffet in New York is Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin. Since Litecoin and Tron are blockchain projects with different goals, Lee’s presence will serve to showcase the diversity in crypto projects.

Even though Sun had invited Donald Trump, the US president is yet to acknowledge the invitation. The charity lunch is scheduled to take place on 25th July in New York.
