John McAfee Launches McAfee Market News

John McAfee doesn’t seem to stop in his endeavor to influence the direction of the crypto community. After relentlessly backing the BitFi wallet, he recently announced the launch of a website called “McAfee Market News,” which will provide quotes, charts, and news for 1,800 coins. It will also offer analysis tools, blogs and real-time updates for the coins. As usual, the tweet and the project received some flak from the Twitterati.

Announcing Via Tweets

On Aug 22, McAfee announced on Twitter the launch of this new website.

I am more than proud to announce the release of https://t.co/y3VmGl63Cl. Market quotes for 1,800 coins. Charts updated in real time, analysis tools, chat, blogs, news and everything you could ask for in one package.

Replying to some tweets on his timeline, he said that this is only the beginning of the product and its fully functional release will be out in October, adding “you will not believe it.”

In a subsequent tweet, he praised the team working on the website, saying:

“The http://McAfeeMarketNews.com project was conceived, designed and implemented by @jamesjguthrie (right) and @FluentNinjitsu. Two if the world’s finest.”

The site, for now, looks basic with some “in your face” references added to Team McAfee and the “partners,” i.e., some of the projects that McAfee is promoting.

Some Twitter Users Not Impressed

Like with many McAfee announcements, Twitter remained divided. Some users praised him for the efforts, while others loathed him for creating a copy of CoinMarketCap. One example is a tweet from a user called Alon.

This is literally all data inserted from @CoinMarketCap to a different HTML layout. What exactly did you guys do besides register a domain and hyperlink all data from CMC?

Some users pointed out that the website was lacking a secure SSL certification. For a former cybersecurity expert like McAfee, who created McAfee antivirus, this is quite a surprising omission. The fate of this website looks uncertain as of now, but it will be interesting to note what becomes of it in October.
