Keisuke Honda, a former Japan midfielder and currently the captain of Brazilian professional league team Botafogo, has rolled out a crypto coin to boost fan engagement. Rally Network unveiled this news on October 21 via a blog post, noting that the coin is dubbed KSK Honda Coin and that Rally.io will be responsible for distributing it. Through this coin, the footballer intends to offer his fans across the globe unprecedented access to his life as a soccer player and as an entrepreneur.

Explaining why it was necessary to launch a token, Honda said,

“I decided to create my social token to build new connections with my most loyal fans. This is a new type of innovative ‘fan club’ that I will be experimenting with Rally so that my fans can benefit and be connected anywhere in the world. Although much of this project is still undecided, I’ll make one promise: any money that is made from this project will be used towards positive impact and I will be 100% transparent with my token holders about how it will be spent.”

Per the blog post, launching KSK Honda Coin will offer the star’s fans multiple benefits. These include access to exclusive video updates, where the fans will get video updates of Honda on and off the field as he travels across the globe. Additionally, the fan will have access to private Discord chats with the footballer. On top of this, Honda will get to recognize his biggest supporters through special social chats.

Increasing crypto and blockchain adoption from the soccer world

This bullish news comes after a report disclosed that Zenit St. Petersburg, a Russia Premier League team signed on to an Ethereum-based fantasy soccer platform dubbed Sorare. Through this move, the team sought to create collectible blockchain cards for its players and release them within the blockchain-based game. In so doing, the team reportedly joined hundreds of other international soccer teams, including Juventus, PSG, Atletico Madrid, and PSG.

Prior to this, SS Lazio, an Italian soccer club, entered into a multi-year partnership with StormGain, a crypto trading platform. Reportedly, this collaboration sought to boost fan engagement via exclusive giveaways such as VIP suite hospitality at Lazio home games. As part of this partnership, StormGain also offered to provide access to private tours and events at Stadio Olimpico, the largest sports facility in Rome.
