Blockchain-based decentralized cloud computing marketplace, iExec revealed the launch of its end-to-end trusted execution environment on Monday, November 1, 2018, as reported by Null TRX.

The team behind the new launch describe it as being the “first Intel SCX scalable solution,” adding that it is has preferred features for businesses looking to emphasize on privacy and security.

To start off, Intel SGX was created with the aim of increasing the security of codes and its respective data. Their approach towards protection, as noted in iExec’s Medium post, are relying on enclaves. Enclaves are deemed as

“solutions built into the CPU that provide hardware security.”

Furthermore, its presence is believed to induce confidence in those looking to run applications, as it will not steal or release one’s data to a third party.

iExec has two technologies in mind when it comes to choosing the right one for the success of decentralized cloud infrastructures.

While one is evidently blockchain technology, the other is supposedly the trusted execution environment (TEE), which does not come of surprise given its ability to protect both the code and data loaded onto itself in a confidential manner. Security is typically deemed as a concern when it comes to cloud computing because of the node owner’s ability to access private user data. This will no longer be the case thanks to the TEE.

Moving forward, the iExec team plans to further develop cloud computing to one that contains computing power similar to “trading like a commodity.” Their most recent effort is the ongoing works done to their iExec V3, as reported by Coin Telegraph, who described it as being “beyond the trading of cloud power,” with the addition of dataset inclusion.
