Huobi hosted its first Global Elites Meetup in Singapore on Nov. 16th. The event was attended by 110 influencers from the cryptocurrency, finance, and blockchain spheres. The participants “gathered to network, share insights, and discuss trends within the crypto community.”

Notable speakers at the event included Ong Jun Hao, the founder of BlockConnectors; Ryan Lee, founder of CryptoGrinders; and Ken N. the co-founder and managing director of BlockAsia.

Huobi Korea hosted a previous Huobi Global Elites X You in Seoul on Oct. 18th, and more than 100 influencers attended the event.

Edward Chen, Huobi’s APAC managing director, said:

“While our Global Elite Program offers many benefits, we are proud to have this opportunity to meet some of our honored Global Elites members in person and enjoy meaningful discussion.”

He pointed out more events of the same nature would take place in the future, stating that:

“This is just the first of many such meetups.”

The meetup is designed to allow influencers, equity investment houses, wealth management firms, brokerages, and funds to build strategic partnerships with each other.

The main highlight of the meetup was a series of panel discussion on blockchain technology, investment, and community building during the ongoing bear trend.

The crypto market has recently been hit by another round of price drops that has seen Bitcoin fall to as low as $5,300. Its market cap is sitting at below $92.7 billion. The price of Ethereum has fallen so much that it has been overtaken by Ripple’s XRP as the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. In the last few weeks, the crypto market exhibited signs of stability amid a stock market sell-off.

The event is part referral program, part business collaboration, and part business initiative and has the potential to benefit Huobi and its partners. Global Elite members have the potential to earn a profit-sharing bonus of 40 percent of the trading fees for all the business they bring in.

Founded in 2013 and operating in over 130 countries, Huobi Group is one of the largest companies in the blockchain sector.
