Google is creating new AI search tools with a focus on “Racing.”

2023-4-17 22:39

According to a report by the New York Times, Alphabet Inc. is developing a new search engine and incorporating artificial intelligence features into its current offerings in response to the advancements made by competitors such as Microsoft’s Bing.

The project, known as Magi, is currently being tested and aims to anticipate user needs. Over 160 people are working on the project, and initial plans are to release it to up to one million people in the US, increasing to 30 million by the end of the year. However, the release date has not yet been determined.

This project comes as Google faces strong competition from Bing, and even Samsung Electronics Co. has considered switching to Bing as its primary search engine on its phones due to its AI capabilities. Google has been using large language models (LLMs) to anticipate user queries and increase interaction with ads.

The AI features being developed for the new search engine could also help with tasks such as software code writing, image generation, and foreign language learning.
