GMO Internet Group, a Japanese internet heavyweight, launched the self-developed high-performance GMO miner B3 on Monday. The new miner is an upgraded version of the previous B2 model that was sold out after launch.

Equipped with 7nm ASIC mining chips, the miner has the hash capacity of 33 TH/s*1 or 33 trillion hash calculations per second. The price of the equipment is $1,999 for the month of July.

The GMO miner B3 works with powerful 7nm ASIC mining chips (7nm process GMO72b), which helps it achieve a higher hash rate. It can support “cryptocurrency mining of SHA256 and can execute mining of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.”

The previous model B2 had 24 TH/s hash power and consumed 1,950w per unit (or 81W per TH/s). The new model will consume 3,417w per unit (or 103W per TH/s).

The company described its upgrade as follows:

“The major characteristics of GMO miner B3 are that it has the maximum hash power of 33 TH/s as well as can adjust the hash power optimally up to 33TH/s depending on the mining environment and global hash rate.”

GMO also revealed that the new model would contain a “function to set the optimal hash power and power consumption depending on the environment.”

The company noted:

“While we were selling GMO miner B2, several customers have requested a function to adjust the hash power. Therefore, we accelerated the planned development of ‘hash power optimization function,’ which can set the optimal hash power and power consumption and implemented it in GMO miner B3.”

The function will have two modes: manual and automatic. The automatic function will adjust the hash power of the miner according to the cost of electricity. It will also depend on the mining environment and global hash rate.

Therefore, miners can improve their mining efficiency. The new model will also include additional services of the previous model and also support a daisy chain connection of up to 32 units.

The miner will be shipped to users in November. However, for those who buy it in July, the price will be $1,999 (shipping charges extra). This is the same price as the previous B2 miner, which was launched on June 6.

Note that GMO changes the price of the equipment each month. The company will also upgrade a B2 model to the B3 for free if users request for it.

The company will accept BTC, BCH and US dollar payments and provide a 180-day warranty on the products. The shipment will include two power supply units as well.
