A gambling app on Tron has helped the blockchain network register higher daily transaction volumes than Ethereum for the first time. The app, known as TRONbet, is the first large-scale decentralized application (DApp) deployed on the Tron network. The dice game clocked in more than 500,000 transactions during the weekend.
What Caused the Surge?The DApp organized a competition on Friday and over the weekend, because of which it experienced more than 500,000 transactions on the Tron network. The network continued to experience a transaction volume surge on Monday as well and surpassed Ethereum’s numbers, which was clocking between 500,000 and 600,000 transactions during the time.
Though Tron surpassed Ethereum only briefly, the event helped in cementing the reputation of the blockchain. The success of a blockchain is usually measured in the number of transactions that its network can handle in a given time. The higher the number, the better the system.
Bitcoin and Ethereum, two of the pioneering blockchain networks, are often criticized for their inability to scale and to handle a higher number of transactions. Tron, on the other hand, is designed for scalability, which gives it an edge over the two networks.
More DApps Ready to LaunchThe Ethereum network and Tron both allow the creation of decentralized applications. However, while Ethereum can handle only 25 transactions per second, the Tron network processes over 2,000 transactions per second. This higher processing power and better scalability are crucial for running apps like TRONbet.
Some DApp games have migrated from Ethereum to Tron because of the network’s scalability. Magic Academy, a game from BitGuild, would be built on the Tron mainnet, which, according to the CEO of Tron Foundation Justin Sun, will be able to process over 20,000 transactions per second.
He mentioned about games and other DApps on its blockchain during an interview with Investopedia, saying:
“We will continue efforts in the entertainment and gaming industry. We’ve already seen quite a few outstanding TRON dApps like BitGuild being built on or migrated to the TRON network. In the next two quarters, we expect even more developers to flock to TRON, which will boost our overall performance.”
