Fold Announces Shopping Support for Target, Allowing Users to Spend Crypto Online or In-Store

Crypto payment card app Fold just announced support for Target, one of America’s biggest retailers.

Starting today, Fold users can use bitcoin to load a card with money, then spend that money at Target.com or in Target stores.

“We are pumped to bring back an old favorite, Target!”, said Fold in a blog post announcing the news on December 18. “Starting today, you can use bitcoin to purchase cards for Target through Fold. These cards can be used in-store and online at Target.com.”

Fold users can now use bitcoin to purchase a Target card and get a $5 Target card as a reward (only available for the first 100 users who redeem a Target card).

Once you have a Target card, you can spend that money in-store or online, effectively transferring your bitcoin into real Target purchases.

“For extra convenience, load your gift card into the Target app to buy online or get stuff delivered right from the store. If you do go, grab a Latte with Bitcoin while you shop at the in-store Starbucks cafe.”

Last week, Fold announced support for Uber, allowing users to use bitcoin to purchase an Uber ride. Fold also allows users to spend bitcoin on Uber Eats, which means you can turn your bitcoin into a food delivery:

Whether spending bitcoin on Uber or Target, the process is straightforward. You open the Fold app, select your dollar amount for Uber or Target, then send your bitcoin:

This past week, Fold added support for Uber and Target. Previously, the app worked only with Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts. However, they appear to be rapidly expanding to more popular retailers.

As part of this latest promotion, Fold is also launching a social media marketing campaign encouraging users to share their spending habits with Fold. Can you make it a full day without using fiat currency? Thanks to Fold’s support for coffee shops, Target, and Uber, it seems easier than ever.
