Ex-Olympic Wrestler and Bitcoin Bull Ben Askren Calls XRP a “Scam”

The world’s third-largest cryptocurrency XRP is currently seeing some action as it trades in the green in tandem with Bitcoin. Amidst this upward move, a whopping nearly 50 million XRP has been moved to exchanges which have many fearing for a correction. Analyst Jacob Canfield said about XRP price chart,

“Ripple is just getting painful to look at when many other majors and bitcoin itself is breaking out. Needs to push up soon or we could see another low incoming.”

Adding to this blow is Ben Askren, an American Retired professional mixed martial artist, former Olympic wrestler and a competitor in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) who called it a “scam.”

I think XRP is a scam https://t.co/ye3E53dM3E

Askren doesn’t like XRP but he is a Bitcoin bull through and through. Since mid-2019 he had been constantly sharing his love for Bitcoin on twitter and even conducted a poll on,

“Someone gives you a $10,000 that you can’t touch for 10 years, would you rather have the 10k gift in.”

He then even explained that if someone had bought $10k of BTC about 10 years back, it would have been worth $26 billion while gold would have only made it to $15,000. In October, he tweeted,

Just bought more BTC using @eToro was really easy, now all of you twitter geniuses can tell me Crypto is a scam while my assets go up!

Askren also showed interest in Litecoin and gave a shout-out to the Litecoin community for supporting him in UFC. He said at that time,

“I’m especially honored to represent you guys, because you are a cause and something I believe in. Obviously, I hold a lot of Litecoin myself. I think it’s especially great when not just that I get a sponsorship, but when I get one that I believe in and that I think can help make a better future. And I think that all of you guys see that vision as well.”

Litecoin’s partnership with Askren has been part of its marketing campaign for the mainstream adoption of LTC.
