In a recent interview, eToro CEO Yoni Assia said that the trading platform had seen consistent demand in recent months from retail investors for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. In a discussion with NewsBTC, Assia spoke about his bullish outlook for Bitcoin and other plans to expand crypto trading functionality on eToro. Commentator Matt Greenspan had analyzed the impressive demand for Bitcoin on eToro the day before.

Assia was generally upbeat about the developments in the crypto market as of late. He said of recent demand:

“In our view, the recent market correction is good for the long-term development of the market. Cryptoassets are still a relatively nascent market; emerging technologies like this often see swings in their value in the early days. Market adjustments like those we have experienced recently help to stabilize prices and make the industry more robust. Despite these adjustments, however, we have not seen a significant dip in demand for digital assets.”

eToro launched in 2007 and has roughly 9 million registered users.

Assia explained how he saw the market progressing:

“As the market matures, more investors are expanding their portfolios to include cryptos, while new investors are opening portfolios to trade crypto assets. We do not expect this demand to slow down any time soon, as more people recognize the potential of crypto assets.”

The company is also long on the overall potential of blockchain tech in general:

“The potential of blockchain technology is becoming increasingly clear to governments and financial institutions worldwide, as we have seen in recent attempts to incorporate this technology into their existing structures.”

eToro has made something of a splash recently after entering the crypto market last year, making market analyses and price predictions and increasing the number of crypto coins traded to 12. In the past week, it has also announced a big sponsorship of Premier League teams, specifically to advertise its crypto trading functionality. On the platform, users don’t take ownership of the coins themselves but trade on their value through eToro.
