EOSBet has been the victim of a few hacks, which is to be expected in a dApp where consumers are already in a state of constant gambling. However, based on a new report from Hard Fork, the hackers have seemingly struck again, stealing EOS that amounts to thousands of dollars in value.

The online dice game has allegedly had “another vulnerability,” according to Trust Nodes, which resulted in a theft of $338,000 from the active wallets on the platform. The media outlet elaborated with how the hackers managed to get away with the crypto assets, saying,

“By injecting standard EOS accounts with malicious code, digital baddies appear to have tricked its smart contract into mistakenly crediting their accounts with large amounts of cryptocurrency.”

There are three specific transactions on the website that seem to be false, showing a user named “ilovedice123” moving over 65,000 EOS to another exchange. So far, there haven’t been a full report on how bad the damage has been from EOSBet, but one of the block producers confirmed with Trust Nodes that the platform has already been patched.

The Trust Nodes report also says,

“Hackers added malicious code to their EOS wallets, causing a targeted account to instantly grant attackers with cryptocurrency every time they sent transactions between themselves. In this case, the code activated the EOSBet ‘transfer’ function, tricking it into matching every EOS sent with equal amounts from its operational wallets.”

EOSBet suffered a loss last month as well, valued at $200,000, when they found another security flat, even though developers had only ensured users days ago of the safety of the platform.

After that theft, EOSBet tried to reassure users again, saying that the code had gone through rigorous auditing from both the development team and third parties. However, since this new loss is almost double the former, maybe EOSBet will finally have a more stringent plan for security and stability.
