Tim May Cypherpunk Co-Founder Dies Of Natural Causes

The recognized cryptocurrency anarchist Timothy C. May has passed away the last week, according to a post made by Lucky Green on Facebook. Lucky Green was Timothy’s friend and also a recognized cypherpunk that worked side by side with Tim in many different projects.

Green explained that Tim May died of natural causes at his home located in Corralitos, California.

May was an important member of the Cypherpunk movement and author of “The Crypto Anarchist Manifesto,” which was published back in 1992. Mr. May was able to predict several of the current cryptographic system implemented in virtual currencies and how the crypto-technology evolved during these years.

He wrote about it:

“These developments will alter completely the nature of government regulation, the ability to tax and control economic interactions, the ability to keep information secret, and will even alter the nature of trust and reputation.”

He has also predicted that the State was going to be against this technology and cryptography. He mentioned that governments would mention that the technology is used by criminals and tax evaders. Indeed, he agreed with these issues noting that is valid for governments to be worried about these things.

Apparently, May died of natural causes but an autopsy must be performed yet. May was also very proud of the work cypherpunks did and that the movement deserved as much credit as Satoshi. Ten years ago, Satoshi Nakamoto presented Bitcoin’s white paper that allowed the most popular virtual currency to start spreading all over the world.

At the moment, there are several governments trying to control virtual currencies and the crypto market. Blockchain technology is also being implemented by many companies and firms all over the world.
