In a bid to make it possible for users of Coinbase Wallet to enjoy their favorite decentralized applications (dApps) on desktop browsers such as Chrome, Brave, Mozilla, Opera, and others, in a secure and frictionless manner, Coinbase has launched WalletLink, according to a blog post on August 22, 2019.

Out of Testnet and Into Alpha: Lightning Labs’ Desktop Application Is Live

Lightning Labs just released an alpha version of its Lightning Network wallet. The desktop application is now compatible with Bitcoin’s mainnet and it leverages Neutrino (the protocol, not the analytics company acquired by Coinbase) to give users a lightweight option to “control their own funds,” as opposed to running a full node or trusting a third party to play custodian.

With yesterday’s addition of Zcash (ZEC), popular exchange service Coinbase has more than doubled its cryptocurrency lineup in 2018 – and by the looks of it, the trend is here to stay. Up until August, Coinbase supported a narrow inventory of cryptocurrencies on its flagship desktop and mobile apps, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), the last one of which was added last December.
