Coinbase distributes OMG airdrop, three years later

Long term Ether holders on Coinbase are set to receive a gift from the exchange in the form of OMG tokens, a recent email to Coinbase customers revealed. Back on July 7, 2017, OmiseGo airdropped its tokens to Ethereum holders but Coinbase withheld the tokens as they did not support the token at the time.

Just days ago, on May 15th, 2020, Coinbase announced they will offer trading support to OMG tokens on its iOS and Android app, setting off a 40% gain in price. Coinbase is now distributing the OMG airdropped tokens to the long term ETH investors accounts if you had ETH at the time of the airdrop.

“Because you had ETH on Coinbase at the time of the original airdrop, you are receiving OMG. No action is needed on your part. All eligible tokens have already been credited to your Coinbase account.”- Coinbase email to customers reads.

OmiseGo is a Thai based blockchain platform, founded in 2017, that aims to offer users a direct payment platform, similar to PayPal. The platform enables enterprises as well as individuals enhanced financial freedom via financial investments and services.

U.S registered crypto exchange, Kraken, also listed OMG at the tail end of 2019, and Binance's US exchange added the crypto just yesterday, enabling deposits, withdrawals, and trading of the token. OMG currently trades at $1.63 against the dollar representing a sharp rise of 143% in the past month.
