Chingari, often referred to as ‘India’s TikTok’, has hit a major milestone in its evolution as an on-chain social app.

The platform, which unveiled its native GARI token in 2021 to kickstart the journey into a major crypto-related project, took another step today with the launch of its GARI Mining program.

A press release announcing the arrival of the program noted that the target is to have users earn the native token simply for doing what they enjoy doing with the app.

Mr Sumit Ghosh, co-founder and CEO of Chingari and GARI said in a statement that the GARI Mining program is “at the vanguard” of the journey towards democratizing the content creation economy. He added:

This program will ensure a level playing field for big and humble creators. Now, creators and users on the app can earn GARI tokens which can be traded on exchanges for money and creators will not be at the mercy of brand collaborations as their only source of income. The program will offer $ 12 million to the creators and users annually.”  

While crypto users and creators can earn crypto across different platforms through earn programs, Chingari’s move is the first time this arrangement is available via a social app.

In this case, Chingari has unveiled a “Create-2-Earn, Watch-2-Earn and Engage-2-earn program.” Here, the community of content creators and users will have a chance to earn GARI via in-app activities, including through content creation and liking or sharing of videos.

The platform will distribute GARI tokens from a pool of 50,000 tokens each day. The daily login bonus will include 5,000 tokens while users and creators will get a share of 45,000 GARI as reward for their activities on the app.

In total, the rewards will be upwards of $12 million per year.

Users can bump their earnings through GARI Badges, an NFTs feature that allows a holder of the digital collectible an opportunity to get up to 10x their daily GARI rewards.

The GARI token currently trades around $0.84, up nearly 30% in the past 24 hours amid increased interest following the news.
