Breaking: Crypto Exchange Coinbase Rumoured to Start Preparations for IPO

Just recently it has been revealed by Reuters that a well-known cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is starting to prepare for going for an IPO. Though there is no official confirmation, we can already say that if it is true, it will be a very important milestone not only for the exchange but for the entire crypto world in general.

Coinbase can become the first major U.S. crypto exchange offering its stocks via an IPO. However, in any case the approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is required. That’s why the time is needed for all the processes. Coinbase IPO can be expected in the beginning of 2021.

At the latest private fundraising round that took place in 2018, teh valuation of the exchange was over $8 bln. However, the traditional listing will be a new format for it.

Earlier Rumours about Coinbase IPO

Today is not the first time when the crypto community is discussing the possibility of Coinbase public listing. Already in October 2018, Ran Neuner, the host of the show ‘CryptoTrader’ on CNBC, voiced an idea that the exchange would go for an Initial Public Offering.

Though as you know that rumors haven’t become a reality, even before them Asiff Hirji who was Coinbase President at that time said that public listing could be a possible path for the company. However, he also explained that they had a lot to do before offering the stocks in this way. But who knows, maybe that world has been already done?
