It seems that the cryptocurrency-powered web browser Brave is more and more popular, as it has surpassed the 4 million number of daily users.

Brave was co-founded by its chief executive Brendan Eich, who used to be a CEO for Mozilla. In a recent tweet, Eich says Brave has 12.2 million users a month. Besides, the browser has also seen an increase in its number of publishers, which are currently 447,000.

More than 50% of the Brave publishers are operating on YouTube. Their number increased from 40,390 to 268,600, a year back. 52,150 of them operate on Twitter, 45,400 on their own websites, with these last ones’ numbers increasing by 220%, from 14,100 to 45,400, in March 2019.

Twitch publishers have also raised in numbers by 760%, from 3,800 to 33,000, in a year, whereas the Reddit ones reached the 30,700 number in less than 12 months. Github and Vimeo host 10,550 and respectively 6,660 Brave publishers, whereas Soundcloud doesn’t feature any.

Having 254,327 Basic Attention Token (BAT) addresses, it seems many of these publishers are running multiple accounts. There are 68 countries in which Brave campaigns are at the moment active.

Brave was released for the public in January 2016. It’s a free browser with built-in tracker and ad blocking. In spite of this ad blocker, Brave users can opt to chain ad campaigns that reward them BATs for viewing ads. At the same time, Brave publishers can receive donations and regular contributions in BAT.

In February, Brave filed with the UK’s consumer protection bureau a submission in which it accuses the bureau of having failed to enforce regulations on inhibiting Google from collecting mass data on citizens. Johnny Ryan, Brave’s chief policy and industry relations officer, said the real-time ad bidding from Google is compromising data at a global scale.

On February 25, the Wayback Machine was integrated into Brave for the browser’s users to be able to access the archived versions of web pages they’re visiting.
