Xunlei Limited, the Chinese technology company – which is known as the BitTorrent of China – announced on Friday that it launched a new distributed file system that aims to support different blockchain platforms.

The ThunderChain File System, known as TCFS, and three ThunderChain Request for Comments TRC standards, will be supporting blockchain development. The information has been released by the company in a recent statement. The main intention is to combine features of existing platforms like IPFS and filecoin, and at the same time, add new security and flexibility tools.

Moreover, during a ceremony in Shenzhen, China, the company unveiled the winners of an international blockchain application competition that it was sponsoring. Xunlei announced the launching of ThunderChain in April. It explained that the blockchain would be able to provide ‘processing capacity in the millions of transactions per second.’

The newest TCFS has been built specifically for blockchain platforms, including the ThunderChain. Those standards are going to help interested individuals and third parties to build up the ecosystem on the company’s blockchain.

The company was able to enter the crypto and blockchain market back in October, 2017. Since then has been hit to two class action lawsuits over an alleged Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) from its investors. The filings explain that during October 2017 and January 2018, Xunlei launched a blockchain token to facilitate its cloud services.
