Bitcoin Car to Race at the 105th Indianapolis 500 to Support BTC Awareness and Open-Source Development

2021-5-13 21:06

“The world needed a Bitcoin car at the Indy 500. Now we have it,” said Jack Mallers, CEO of Zap, a bitcoin investment and payments company, as he announced The Bitcoin Car on Wednesday.

Indy 500, car #21, will be racing for Bitcoin. Mallers has decided to donate $25,000 with Strike, Zap’s product donating $100,000 for the development of the trillion-dollar cryptocurrency.

The car will have a Bitcoin address QR code format for anyone to make donations through the race.

The Bitcoin open-source funding efforts will be announced in Miami during the Bitcoin 2021 conference. Mallers is working with the Human Rights Foundation, Square Crypto, MIT, and others for the disbursement.

“I think this will be the biggest Bitcoin open-source funding event in history.”

The world’s first Bitcoin Car will be racing on May 30th at the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500, for which, Mallers has teamed up with auto racing driver Ed Carpenter.

Since COVID, it will be the largest sporting event with 144,000 in-person attendance and nationally televised to millions.

A race that will be for human freedom, financial literacy, financial inclusivity, and savings technology, he said.

“We’re forever in debt to the open-source community that has made Bitcoin what it is today, and that will continue to build Bitcoin into what it is destined to be tomorrow,” wrote Mallers.

“This is about supporting Bitcoin awareness and supporting open-source Bitcoin development.”
