Australia Post Digital ID Service to Open Buy Bitcoin Options to Nearly 12 Million Customers

2018-10-26 02:01

Australia Post is one of the oldest institutions within the country, offering itself as a postal service in the area. Their digital platform will now have a lot more to offer the locals, like the ability to help users register on digital currency exchanges. The process will take minutes, and it looks like citizens can already access the services.

The Digital iD services has been in effect for a while, and it allows users to store all of their identifying documents on the server. When users see the logo for Digital iD on other websites, they give permission for certain details to be released to verify themselves, rather than having to provide individuals documentation. Digital Surge is one of the companies to already adopt their service, and director Josh Lehman has noted, “Digital iD allows us to verify the identity of a prospective Bitcoin buyer in minutes, instead of the days it takes other exchanges.”

With the new opportunity available through Australia Post, the user will be able to use the Digital iD to verify themselves in order to participate in local Bitcoin exchanges. Unfortunately, Digital iD and Australia Post haven’t seen a great relationship in the past, considering the budget and staff cuts. However, considering that the two-year old project has now garnered the attention of over 40 organizations that accept their digital documents, in lieu of physical ones.

Some experts believe that the use of the identification service as a way to verify themselves for Bitcoin is the easiest way to do so. Since users can be validated in minutes, it doesn’t take as long to establish a wallet or perform transactions, which has been an issue in the cryptocurrency industry as a whole for quite a while. Furthermore, considering that Australian Post services 11.7 million addresses, their adaptability and new crypto services may entice non-users to start getting involved with crypto.
